Use VoLog during a TTRPG game on Discord
Add the VoLog bot, play without creating an account first, then receive the short recap of the game and a transcript link by direct message.

Before the game
You do not need a VoLog account to start it. Open the bot invitation link and add it to the server.
Adding the bot requires the Discord Manage Server or Administrator permission. If you do not have either permission, send the link to someone who can add an application to the server.
Before you begin:
- Tell everyone present that the voice conversation will be recorded and transcribed.
- Obtain their agreement.
- Join the voice channel where you will play.
- Check that the bot can view and join that channel, then post its message in an associated text channel.
The bot's message keeps each person's choice visible during the game. It does not replace the table's prior agreement. Consent and data explains the available controls.
Start VoLog
In a text channel on the server, use /volog start. The bot joins your voice channel, starts recording the voices and posts a message visible to the table.
Each person can use Do not record me to stop capture of their next spoken passages. Passages already captured are not deleted. They can later use Participate in recording to resume capture of their voice.
After it starts, the bot offers optional context. The person who started VoLog can select a campaign, create one before having an account, or keep an independent game. They can also set the spoken language and game system. Closing this step or letting it expire does not stop VoLog.
During the game
Use /volog status to check that VoLog is active and see which channel the bot is following.
If you move to another voice channel:
/volog follow nowmoves the bot to your current channel in manual mode;/volog follow mode autoallows the bot to follow you on the same server;/volog follow mode manualreturns to manual following.
VoLog stops automatically after 6 hours, or after 15 minutes without captured speech. Noise alone does not extend capture. A lasting disconnection or removal of the bot may also stop it.
Stop VoLog
At the end of the game, use /volog stop. The bot immediately confirms that it has stopped. The transcript is prepared afterwards and is not available with this confirmation.
VoLog prepares the transcript when the game lasts at least 10 minutes and contains enough speech. The person who started it then receives the short recap of the game and a transcript link by direct message. The message also shows the date, duration, participant count, and the number of characters, locations, items, and spells spotted. The bot also posts a button in the last voice channel so other participants can request their own short recap of the game.
Find the game
If you started VoLog, open the link received by direct message. If you do not have an account yet, sign in with the same Discord account. VoLog automatically attaches the game and any campaigns created before the account.
You can also open the Workshop. The game appears there when preparation is complete. Its page contains the transcript, the short recap of the game, and speaking times. It also shows the number of characters, locations, items, and spells spotted.
You can attach the game to a campaign, match voices to characters, then choose Create the Session. Paid workflows produce the Full note, Session summary, Session report, Highlights, characters, locations, items, spells and powers. Your first Session created from Discord or an audio file is free; the cost of later Sessions, calculated at 100 VoLog Credits per hour, is shown before confirmation.
If you are another participant, the channel button lets you request the short recap of the game. The message contains no link or transcript and gives you no access to the game in VoLog.
If VoLog stops or the transcript does not appear, see Audio troubleshooting.
